Board decisions on oil prices/Confindustria, government request

Confindustria has supported the executive's decision through the Transparency Board to set ceiling prices for fuel in the wholesale and retail trade.

According to Konfindustria, this constitutes the first and rather delayed intervention of the Albanian government in the fuel market in the exceptional conditions of the crisis.

Confindustria emphasizes that all countries in the region and beyond have taken immediate measures to mitigate the consequences of the Persian Gulf War.

The set prices of fuel products are over 8% lower, which clearly indicates the wide scope for speculation by market operators and the necessity of continuous monitoring of the strategic fuel market.

Confindustria asks the Albanian government, at the same time as monitoring through the Transparency Board to prevent speculation in the fuel market in today's exceptional global conditions, to rapidly assess the following:

1-The overall reduction of the fiscal burden on fuel and annual car taxes to the levels of the average of the countries in the region

2-Establishment of the Fuel Regulatory Authority as a permanent supervisory institution

3-Review of the current construction in the vertical and horizontal direction of the fuel market with clear manifestations of cartel and oligopoly in ports, wholesale and retail trade

4-Construction of a refinery to process Albanian oil to meet at least 30% of the country's annual needs./ CNA
