The flu situation in the country continues to be stable. As the experts of the public health institute had predicted earlier, in the last two weeks the number of people affected by flu and seasonal viruses has reached its peak and is not increasing.

According to the latest data from ISHP, in the first week of February, about 16,000 people were seen by the family doctor or in hospitals.

Most of the sick are children, where the age group of 1-4 years prevails.

Although the cases of infection have spread throughout Albania, it is observed that some cities have a decrease in infections and in others an increase.

Gjirokastra, Durrësi, Gramshi and Skrapari have experienced a drastic decrease in new cases of influenza, unlike a week ago, where the number was increasing.

But the opposite has happened with the capital, Vlora, Tropoja, Kukës or Kurbin, where cases of new infections have increased since last week.

Public health specialists are of the opinion that this situation is expected to last until mid-February, when it is expected that the curve of infections will begin to decline.

Currently, most of the infected are passing it with mild to moderate symptoms at home, but there are also severe cases, which are receiving the appropriate service in the hospital. From the seasonal flu, so far only one fatality has been officially registered./Euronews Albania
