At today's meeting of the Council of Ministers, the draft law on the Ratification of the Cooperation Agreement in the field of higher education and scientific research between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo was approved.
The ratification of this agreement advances bilateral cooperation and paves the way for building new bridges of knowledge and innovation in the field of higher education and scientific research.
"This is an agreement, which will be ratified in the Parliament of Albania and defines a series of collaborations and partnerships with the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of Kosovo and the Ministry of Education and Sports of our country. The parties, which are in this agreement, encourage and support the cooperation between the academic communities and the cooperation will also be deepened by encouraging the participation in joint EU projects and in UNESCO programs or other programs, which have bilateral interest", said minister Ogerta Manastirliu, immediately after the end of the government meeting.
Through this agreement, the governments of the two countries facilitate the mobility of students by offering scholarships for studies from Albania and Kosovo. This will help eliminate financial barriers for students and help increase cooperation between the educational institutions of the two countries.
"Another innovation that comes from this agreement is the student mobility program, where it will be possible to grant scholarships. And they will be students from Kosovo, but also from Albania, because this is a mutual agreement, where it will be possible to grant 30 scholarships per year for students in different study cycles, who will want to study in Albania in different programs . There will be an evaluation process by the Higher Education Units and 'Ad-Hoc' commissions, which will determine the criteria and procedures in terms of benefiting from the scholarships provided for in this agreement", said Manastirliu.
Also, the signing of this agreement facilitates the procedures for mutual recognition of certificates and diplomas, giving students and professionals the opportunity to build careers and share knowledge in a wider geographical spectrum.
To ensure the effective implementation of this agreement, dedicated working groups will be formed that will monitor progress and identify new opportunities for expanding our cooperation in achieving common objectives./ CNA
