Albanian student protest in Skopje/Zhupa: A matter of justice and dignity

DP MP Ina Zhupa has reacted to the protest of Albanian students in North Macedonia, expressing her support for them.

In a Facebook post, Zhupa writes that the Albanian language is a non-negotiable right and a pillar of the Albanian national identity. The MP states that when a people is forced to demand the use of their own language, we are dealing with a matter of justice and dignity.

Among other things, she calls on institutions to react responsibly and commit to guaranteeing the rights of Albanians in North Macedonia.

The Albanian language is a non-negotiable right and a pillar of our national identity, earned with many sacrifices over the years.

I fully support the voice of students who demand its respect, because when a people is forced to demand the use of their own language, we are dealing with an issue of justice and dignity.

I call on institutions to react responsibly and commit to guaranteeing the rights of Albanians in North Macedonia.

We recall that Albanian students in North Macedonia protested today after they were prohibited from taking the jurisprudence exam in the Albanian language.

The students have called on institutions to respect the language law and respect the Constitution. They have also demanded the resignation of the government in North Macedonia. /CNA
