The Democratic Party MPs have requested the Parliament to review their proposal for reducing the price of oil through an expedited procedure.
The opposition parliamentary group is demanding that this proposal be included in the plenary session of April 16, as an emergency measure that would avoid the economic consequences that are weighing on citizens. The DP proposal calls for the establishment of a variable excise tax on fuels.
"All VAT accumulated from the increase in fuel prices will automatically go towards reducing the excise duty on diesel. If this measure were applied, today the price of diesel would not be higher than 180 lek per liter," the DP's request states. /CNA
