Journalist Anila Hoxha has explained in a television interview another relief provided by the new criminal code, that of paying the penalty.

The journalist emphasized that this applies to the category of minor criminal offenses and that persons convicted of corruption and abuse of office do not benefit here. 

Hoxha further emphasized that for each day in prison, the perpetrator will pay 16,000 old lek. 

"The issue of payment of the penalty will be calculated for each day of imprisonment 16 thousand old lek. In case the perpetrator of the crime or the offender is sentenced to one month in prison and the court, with the consent and desire of the perpetrator, decides that this perpetrator, the culprit, pays 30 the days of the prison, then it will be calculated every day the prison will pay from 16 thousand old lek and calculate how much is the amount that he will pay. Because of the approach that the legislator and the institutions of justice are making, because of the phenomenon of corruption , abuse of office, these two figures of the criminal offense are excluded from the right to pay the prison day and as much as you are punished, as can be other offenses, we are still in the category of light offenses because we said that a cloud has been created large number of criminal offenses and criminal files. Of course, the prosecutor's office is filled with cases that are considered easy to investigate but the referrals are very high.
