The bust of Gjergj Kastriot is placed in Tuz of Montenegro

The bust of the national hero of the Albanians, Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu, was placed in the central square of the municipality of Tuzi, in Montenegro with a cultural ceremony and in the presence of the citizens of Montenegro, from all over Albania and emigrants from the United States of America.

One of the initiators of placing the bust of the national hero, the former local official and the current vice-president of the Parliament of Montenegro, Nikollë Camaj said that Gjergj Kastrioti will stand proudly in front of the Bratila of Ded Gjon Luli, where it is intertwined with the efforts of the Highlands over the centuries to to achieve national freedom.

"This is a special day not only for Malesia, but for all Albanians wherever they live. We have Gjergj Kastriot Skenderbeu in front of Bratila where the flag was raised for the first time after the death of the leader. It's really a big thing and I want to thank everyone who has placed even a pebble in this great project", said Mr. Camaj.

The chairman of the National Council of Albanians in Montenegro, Faik Nika, pointed out that the inauguration of the bust reiterates the values ??of Gjergj Kastriot as a guide of the Albanian nation, a hero and the inspiration of their resistance.

"For the Albanians in Montenegro, it is a very important and historical day for the Albanians in Montenegro who are at risk of assimilation. The symbolism of the inauguration of the bust in Malësi is a sign of the development of Albanians and reinforces the unity around the identity and national values ??of which we are proud", said Mr. Nika,

Meanwhile, the representative of the associations of expatriates in the USA, Mr. Ndrek Gjolaj, who contributed to the raising of the bust, appreciates the event as a great celebration for Albanians wherever they are.

"Congratulations to the Highlands and all the Highlanders everywhere, the memorial of Gjergj Kastriot that is being placed today and they will enjoy it from generation to generation", said Mr. Gjolaj, chairman of the Greater Highlands Association in Detroit.

After the separation of Tuzi from the Municipality of Podgorica and the creation of a new municipality, the Assembly of this city unanimously approved the decision to erect the statue of Skenderbeu, which was a dream of the community in this area.

The long-awaited bust of Gjergj Kastrioti was realized in cooperation with the Albanian diaspora from the United States of America, while the new square was financed by the Republic of Albania./ VOA
