The acting director of Durres prison passes away

The acting director of Durrës prison, Etmond Llabani, passed away today. The news was announced by the Directorate of Prisons through a post on social networks.

Llabani had been hospitalized for more than two months after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.

Farewell, Etmond!

After a difficult battle with health, our esteemed colleague, former commanding director of the Durrës Penitentiary Institution, Etmond Llabani, left this world forever, but his memory will live on in all those who knew him and worked with him.

Etmondi was a man of precious human values, beloved and always available to make his contribution, a tireless colleague and above all a loving and devoted father.

We express our sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and comrades. 

Etmond Llabani was appointed head of the Durrës Penitentiary on January 15, 2026. The command came after the dismissal of the previous head, Indrit Cerloj, following the escape of detainee Altin Ndoci. Llabani had previously headed the Institution for the Execution of Criminal Sentences in Peqin. /CNA
