Military industry/ Government authorizes "KAYO" sh.a. for weapons

The Council of Ministers has approved the decision authorizing the state-owned joint-stock company "KAYO", j.a. to produce and trade weapons, ammunition, technology, equipment, clothing and tools used for security and defense purposes.

According to the decision, "KAYO", sh.a., may carry out its activity directly or through other entities created by it, including the production and marketing of customized products in the territory of the Republic of Albania, as well as the provision of services to security structures, subordinate bodies and state companies created by these structures.

The company "KAYO" will be obliged to send every 6 months to the requesting authorities a list of the products and services it offers. All state structures operating in the field of defense and security will be obliged to initially turn to this company for supplies, before undertaking other public procurement procedures.

In the event that “KAYO” is unable to meet the requirements within 30 days, the relevant authorities may proceed with the usual public procurement or security procedures. When the company expresses its readiness to supply, direct negotiation between the parties is envisaged.

The decision charges "KAYO", the defense and security structures, as well as their subordinate bodies, with its implementation.

This act enters into force immediately and will be published in the Official Gazette./ CNA
