Fifth day of protest in Korça/ Citizens raise concerns about immigration,

The civic protest in Korça has continued for the fifth consecutive day. Gathered in the city's pedestrian zone, the protesters have expressed their dissatisfaction with the economic situation, immigration, the health system and policies that, according to them, are negatively affecting the lives of citizens. One of the protesters said that citizens must react in the face of injustices and brought to attention the difficulties that Albanian families face in providing medical treatment for their relatives.

" When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes an obligation! … Our sinful state had no money for this child to be treated in Albania. He has been wandering around Tirana for a whole month and has not found a solution. He was forced and went to Greece with a debt of lek. Fortunately, the Greek state took everything away, one by one, and has not paid a single penny. Even today our state does not find a lek to give that child, that mother, to stay and take care of her son. Because they need the money to build villas, to rob all these people. It is surprising and a great misfortune. Truly shameful ," said the protester.

An immigrant from the United States also spoke at the protest, raising concerns about the massive departure of Albanians and the emptying of cities.

" You will accuse me of leaving my homeland, I live in America, I came the day before yesterday. From Rinas in protest. Every time I come to Korça I hear the same answer: they left, they left, they left. Oh, but where are the Albanians going? Who is driving the Albanians away? Because no one leaves out of desire. Everyone's time is over, it's the time of youth. There are many educated people in the diaspora who want to bring their children here, but where to bring them? Who remembers Korça in the past, when the city was buzzing with people? Look how little we have left. Today Albania is being treated like loot and citizens are not held accountable for what happens to their properties and future ," the immigrant said.

Meanwhile, another protester said that citizens should unite beyond political divisions and focus on the country's real problems.

" Freedom has not come yet. If it comes, it will be this great protest of the city that will bring freedom. In the time of communism, class enemies put us down, and in the time of democracy, the left and the right put us down. So what do we need, the left or the right? We need Albania! I want great support for the pastor, who is coming out against hormones. Most families have a sick person and people face many problems. We are not a people to be mocked. We are a dignified people. Korça has produced many patriots ," said the immigrant.

Citizens have called for the protests to continue in the coming days, while demanding more attention to the social, economic and demographic issues that, according to them, are affecting the daily lives of the city's residents and the entire country.
