The Association of Journalists of Albania has reacted after the harsh statement of the Minister of the Interior, Ervin Hoxha, to the media.

AGSH says that Hoxha appears to clarify every claim raised and should not attack the media with inappropriate language.

AGSH considers the minister's narrative completely inappropriate and politically motivated, while asking him to withdraw the attacks and accusations.

Full statement:

With regret, we read a reaction of the Minister of the Interior, Ervin Hoxha, regarding the serious case of the murder of a 14-year-old boy in Tirana.

Instead of clarifying all the claims of the victims' families raised through the media, the Minister attacked the media with inappropriate language and accused it of disinformation.

Through this statement, the Association of Journalists of Albania requests the withdrawal of all attacks and accusations against the media.

AGSH considers this narrative of Minister Hoxha completely inappropriate and politically motivated.

The State Police has the duty to clarify all claims that are made in the media by anyone, providing evidence and irrefutable facts, so that events of high public interest are properly addressed in the media, even more so when these claims and accusations are filed by family members of persons injured by an event that has seriously shocked the public opinion.

We take the opportunity to call on media journalists to always be careful when reporting on events involving minors.
